With the recent release of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) for home viewing, we felt it our duty to further spread the good word of U.N.C.L.E. The film easily topped Bond last year but still few went to see it. Why? WHY? Well, #Bond_age_ isn’t giving up on that sequel just yet. Tonight, Wednesday January 27th, join us for the Man from U.N.C.L.E. DVD Watch Party/Live Tweet.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Live Tweet begins at 9pm EST. Follow #Bond_age_ hashtag.
If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Self, I just don’t have enough vintage John Stamos in my life… and I’m not talking about that Old Uncle Jessie John Stamos I can get on bad network TV… but real, amazeballs 1980’s bitchin’ pre-Uncle Jessie John Stamos,” then you’ll need to tune into #Bond_age_ tonight for NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE.
And no… not only that! Oh no. You’ll also get George Lazenby! That’s right! THE George Lazenby taking roles just to pay the bills.
But I’m far from done with this little slice of heaven from 1986.
The cherry on top of this sundae is Gene Simmons playing the film’s villain Velvet Van Ragnar. I won’t spoil the surprise Gene has in store for you… but trust me… just trust me… you won’t believe it when you see it. Premise? You care about the premise? Okay, so Velvet Van Ragnar murders Lance Stargrove’s secret agent father (and yes, Lance Stargrove is John m’f’ing Stamos) and then it’s full on revenge story with John Stamos gnashing his teeth and Vanity wearing lace doilies from Cracker Barrel that she thinks are “clothes.” I wish I could tell you more. I do.
The show begins at 9pm ET. Follow #Bond_age_ hashtag on Twitter. You won’t want to be late for the first official feature-length #Bond_age_ presentation of 2016. There’s no better way to kick off the new year than by twattering NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE.

Feature Presentation: TOO YOUNG TO DIE (#Bond_age_)
There you are. Just cruising down Lakeshore Drive in Grosse Pointe with your good buddy and you realize, in between hits from your joint, that Thunderball turned 50 years young last week. 50! 50 YEARS!
So naturally, #Bond_age_ needed to host a little surprise party for old man Thunderball. Sadly, it’s BYOJ (Bring your own jetpack) so you’ll have to dig yours out of the attic for the occasion.
Join #Bond_age_ for Thunderball’s 50th Anniversary Live Tweet on Wednesday, December 16th at 9pm EST. Follow #Bond_age_ hashtag.
There’s an embed online so even if you don’t have your own copy of Bond’s 4th adventure, you’ll still be able to join us and send your obligatory tweets about interminable scuba battles, Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi and Connery’s body sweater. Twitter’s always rocking the nights we live tweet Thunderball.
With Krissy Myers taken by a case of food poisoning and #PrisTweet again postponed, #Bond_age_ scrambled to come up with some kind of replacement programming worthy of the time slot. @007hertzrumble doubted he could make the live tweet on time so that removed Plan B (another few Honey West episodes). On to Plan C. And Plan C is an entry from @GregMcCambley’s exhaustive list of obscure spy films available on YouTube. We spun the wheel of fate, and the wheel of fate chose MISSILE X: THE NEUTRON BOMB INCIDENT (aka Tehran Incident) starring Peter Graves, Curd Jürgens and John Carradine.
Director Leslie Martinson is best known for directing the 1966 Batman movie and episodes of Small Wonder (!). Added bonus: Ted V. Mikels, the mastermind behind the awesomeful (maybe just awful) Doll Squad and Astro-Zombies had a hand in adapting the screenplay. If you put all these pieces together, you can see we’re aiming high for golden twatter.
The narrative according to IMDB: “An American intelligence agent travels to pre-Islamic Revolution Iran to try to thwart a power-mad European baron from using a stolen cruise missile to destroy an unspecific target in that country.” Sounds like a winner.
Confession: We’ve never seen it!
Join #Bond_age_ for the MISSILE X: THE NEUTRON BOMB INCIDENT Live Tweet on Wednesday @ 9pm EST. Use #Bond_age_ hashtag.
Since I couldn’t find a trailer, here’s a slice of the super funky groovalicious soundtrack. There really are no words worthy of what’s about to tickle your eardrums.
Three years ago, I spewed a Dr. No Live Tweet to an unwitting Twatterverse. It was just me and @jennjaysleafs on the first Wednesday in December talking Bond and spinning yarns. On that Wednesday I embarked on what was to be a 23-week project — to live tweet each Bond movie and write a blog post about each per week. This was a break from my regular fiction writing. I was burnt out, angry, and incapable of completing new projects. I had a book of 80,000 words I hated, a few short stories on the back burner. I thought a 23 week break from all of that would do me a heap of good.
Let me repeat that one more time. 23 weeks.
156 weeks later, here we are. We’ve live tweeted each of the James Bond movies (and Danger: Diabolik!) at least three times. We’ve crowned a Tournament of Bonds Champion (From Russia With Love). We’ve crowned a Tournament of #Bond_age_ Tweets Champion (@TravisSMcClain and his comment on Commie etching and sketching). A few of us have even become talking heads on an ill-advised Podcast. We’ve even spun off new adventures on #Bond_age_TV. I’ve written about each Bond movie. You’ve written about your love for each Bond movie (even Die Another Day!). I’ve shared my affection for Bond, argued the finer points (and the less fine points), and learned to appreciate the James Bond movies in new and varied ways. Most importantly I’ve met dozens upon dozens of truly amazing Bond aficionados and movie fans. I’ve even met a few of you in real life and become “The #Bond_age_ Guy” (which looks good on paper, but takes on entirely new meaning when spoken). I’ve continued to sail this ship for three years and quite honestly, it’s not even about 007 anymore. It’s about providing a place where we know we can always get together on Wednesday night, maybe share a drink, and connect via this crazy thing called the Twatterverse.
Join me on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9pm EST to celebrate the 3rd #Bond_age_versary with a live tweet of the movie that started it all: Dr. No. Follow the #Bond_age_ hashtag. To everyone out there that’s ever live tweeted a movie with #Bond_age_: I do hope you stop by, for at least a little while and celebrate the ongoing (never-ending?) live tweet project that you had a hand in building. And to anyone that’s never done Bond with us, it’s never too late to jump in and enjoy some good #Bond_age_.
