Deadlier Than The Male Live Tweet

It’s time for #Bond_age_ IMPOSTOR #5: DEADLIER THAN THE MALE!

With the Roger Moore-era now once again in our rear view mirrors, I wanted to take time out for our regularly scheduled #Bond_age_ to introduce one of my favorite #Bond_age_ IMPOSTORS! DEADLIER THAN THE MALE is a helluva lot of fun… and not in the gonzo way that I find #CR67 relatively entertaining. This is a well-crafted Bulldog Drummond spy flick with all of our favorite trappings of the 1960’s spy genre starring Richard Johnson (The Haunting),  Elke Sommer (A Shot in the Dark, Lisa and the Devil) and Sylva Koscina (of Steve Reeves’ Hercules fame). If you haven’t seen Deadlier Than the Male, I expect you to join us on Wednesday at 9pm EDT for the Deadlier than the Male Live Tweet. If you do not have the DVD, the movie is on YouTube in its entirety. I will provide the link to the film on the #Bond_age_ website on Wednesday. If this is a hit, perhaps sometime down the road we’ll visit its sequel SOME GIRLS DO.

Here’s the opening of the film since I can’t find a source for a trailer embed:

And here’s a link to the trailer on Madman films.

A View to a Kill Live Tweet

So what it’s one of the most reviled Bond films. SO WHAT, INDEED. So what if it’s a remake of Goldfinger? Bond has been remaking Bond for as long as any of us can remember. Did A View to a Kill pee in your Metamucil-sprinkled Corn Flakes? No! It is your privilege that you can participate in a View to a Kill live tweet — nay, it is your DUTY to participate in the A VIEW TO A KILL LIVE TWEET, Wednesday, 9pm EDT. Follow hashtag #AVTAK and nobody mention Stacey Sutton.

Octopussy Live Tweet

The best part of the Octopussy live tweet week is getting the wholesale permission to say “Octopussy” as many times as you like.

Give it a shot. Octopussy. Octopussy.

Octopussy.

Try hashtagging it. #Octopussy.

Stopped down at the zoo or aquarium. While there view the Octopussy.

Dress your cat up in a clown outfit. Call him Octopussy for an evening.

Travel by train. Request the Octopussy package.

In mixed company discussed how Ian Fleming kept a pet Octopussy.

Invite everyone you know to live tweet Octopussy. Wednesday, October 16th. Follow hashtag — you guessed it — #OCTOPUSSY.

Octopussy.

For Your Eyes Only Live Tweet

After a short space vacay, #PartyMoore returns to dazzle you with an old-fashioned spy adventure. This week it’s the For Your Eyes Only Live Tweet.

This oft-contested Bond sits among the Roger Moore years as kind of an anomaly. Though it contains a few eye-rolly goofy set pieces, For Your Eyes Only suggests a darker Bond with *gasp* feelings. He mourns his dead wife. He executes two villains in cold blood. He goes skiing with a disco beat. There’s still plenty of ridiculousness to be hand, but when the For Your Eyes Only live tweet reaches the tense climax, you’ll be thinking that maybe, just maybe, you’ve been doing For Your Eyes Only wrong.

Join #Bond_age_ for the For Your Eyes Only Live Tweet, this Wednesday at 9pm EDT. Follow #FYEO hashtag.

Moonraker #Bond_age_ Collection DVD Cover

Moonraker Custom DVD Cover

The Moonraker #Bond_age_ Collection DVD Cover

I couldn’t do a Moonraker Custom DVD Cover and not use my favorite Moonraker Live Tweet moment.

So ingrained are the “pew pew pew” sound effects used during the climactic space laser battle that they had to be a centerpiece of the cover. Or, per Trevor Jost, SPACE. LASER. BATTLE. Once I figured out how to use the “pew pew pew” for the Moonraker #Bond_age_ Collection DVD Cover, the rest fell into place. I borrowed a few images from stills and found the right picture of Earth from space and that was really about it. Sometimes it’s just best not to over-think these things. My only stumble… I had a hard time picking a font. I couldn’t decide whether to go with the more traditional font used on the posters or branch out on my own. Ultimately I chose the depth of this future-ish type font (or at least the future from the perspective of the 1970’s) over tradition.
