This past Wednesday marked the debut of #Bond_age_TV. To celebrate, some brave men and women came together to watch the screen debut of James Bond or, in this case, Jimmy Bond of the CIA. His debut came in the October 21st, 1954 episode of CBS TV’s Climax! He’s a man who leads a life of danger (sorry, wrong TV spy). Anyway, how did Jimmy fare in his battle with the evil Le Chiffre (Peter Lorre)? How did the tweeters fare in their battle with a live television show broadcast 60 years ago? Read on!

He is dealing *very* slow. #Bond_age_TV #CR54

What an entrance, Barry Nelson. Bravo. #CR54

Typical cold war politics. An American needs to explain a European card game to a European. #CR54
— Canucklehead (@GregMcCambley) February 27, 2014
They call him “Card Sense Jimmy Bond?” That’s a mouthful. #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
Bond with an American accent is…weird… #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
#Bond_age_TV Le Chiffre!! #CR54
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
They’re really hung up on him getting shot at. But not hung up enough to, you know, do anything about it. #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
@GregMcCambley i think Errol Flynn paid to have her teeth done #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Gary (@bigraceking) February 27, 2014
@bigraceking How thoughtful. #CR54
— Canucklehead (@GregMcCambley) February 27, 2014
@GregMcCambley lol,don’t think Tyrone Power agreed 🙂 #CR54
— Gary (@bigraceking) February 27, 2014
His mood music. LOL. #CR54

Let’s take that piano down a notch. #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
This is decidedly not romantic. It’s like someone’s slapping the piano with a live fish just off camera. #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
@007hertzrumble Eine Kleine Nachthatracketoff! #CR54
— Canucklehead (@GregMcCambley) February 27, 2014
I’M SORRY. I CAN’T HEAR YOU. WHAT?? WHAT?? #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
I had to go back to listen to Peter Lorre cough up that hairball again. “AACHCHCCKKKK. Music lover.” #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
#Bond_age_TV Do many people refer to Bond as Jimmy? #CR54
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
Just saluting all of you watching the 1954 Casino Royale with #Bond_age_ tonight. #CR54
— Cultura (@CulturalGutter) February 27, 2014
@007hertzrumble Jimmy sure ain’t wearing Tom Ford. #Bond_age_TV #CR54

ACT II, M’F’ERS! #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
I’m shocked. SHOCKED I say that Martin Campbell did not mention #CR54 as an inspiration for how to direct card games.
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
@007hertzrumble And I’m shocked, SHOCKED to find your tweet was inspired by Claude Rains in Casablanca! #CR54
— Canucklehead (@GregMcCambley) February 27, 2014
#Bond_age_TV So far the spy stuff is ancillary, it seems. Bond is more like a riverboat gambler. #CR54
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
The cards fell off the paddle and they didn’t do another take. LOL. #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
Good lord, this pacing is slooooooowwwww #zzzzzz #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
Goooood lord. I directed a card game sketch for my sketch comedy show in college that had more drama than this. #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
@007hertzrumble I’m thinking that the inspiration for this was less Casino Royale, and more the “How to Play” card from the deck. #CR54
— Canucklehead (@GregMcCambley) February 27, 2014
#Bond_age_TV 32 million francs. What’s that about $3.75? #CR54
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
Jimmy is not very Bond-y. The closest he got was kissing that woman…and they were both fully clothed. #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014

@AnnaRenee Wait. There was a twist? lol #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
Classic Bond villain…blahahblahblah just shoot if you’re gonna shoot! #Bond_age_TV #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
So wait. When do we strap naked Jimmy on a chair and slap his balls with rope? #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
oh sure, because people just sign over checks worth millions everyday…not suspicious at all. #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
@AnnaRenee Nope. They have to turn him to yogurt first. #CR54 #Bond_age_TV
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
Wait. Why did that work? Did she monologue Bond out of his rope? #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
1950’s JUDO CHOP! #CR54
— Anna Morrison (@AnnaRenee) February 27, 2014
#CR54 Now we know Bond is loofah-proof.
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
Takeaway from #CR54. Le Chiffre lies much better than you.
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
Did Ian Fleming walk out into the street and choke someone after watching that? #CR54
— #Bond_age_ (@007hertzrumble) February 27, 2014
@007hertzrumble Haha! And be safe. #CR54
— Kerry (@echidnabot) February 27, 2014
@echidnabot Pretty sure I watched that scrambled on some high-nubmered channel. #CR54
